After retiring in the late 1960's, John L. Grove started on a cross country RV voyage. After spending many years establishing his family built crane business with his brother, John had no idea that this journey would give birth to the rise of JLG Industries, Inc. The world leader of mobile aerial work platforms and precision materials handling technologies was the end result of a road expedition.
All through their journey, John reacquainted himself with previous business acquaintances along the way. In combination with these conversations and a noteworthy event; two workers had been unfortunately electrocuted on scaffolding when the Groves were passing through the Hoover Dam. John uncovered a vast marketplace for a product that could swiftly and safely lift people in the air to accomplish upkeep and other building functions.
Upon returning from their travels, John formed a joint venture with two friends and bought a metal fabrication company in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania. In 1970, opening operations with a crew of twenty personnel, they designed and sold the first JLG aerial work platform. The business incorporates some of the simple design elements of that original lift into current models.
Since then, JLG Forklifts have come a great distance from when Mr. John L. Grove came back from his fatefull cross-country trip and since the first JLG aerial platform entered the market. As of today, the business has extended itself into a number of international markets and continues to cultivate contemporary machines to guarantee that clients are able to become safer and more resourceful within their workplace.
